Kid's House seeks golfers, donations for tournament

Published: 9/22/2012

From the Pensacola News Journal

The Gulf Coast Kid’s House is looking for golfers, sponsors and silent auction donations for the 11th annual Panhandle Charitable Open Golf Tournament, Sept. 28 and 29 at the Marcus Pointe Golf Club.

The event, a two-person invitational, was formed in 2002 by a few members of the Marcus Pointe’s Men’s group to raise money for local charities. The tournament’s board has donated more than $250,000 to charities such as Child Guardians Inc., Council on Aging and the Kid’s House.

The Kid’s House was established in 2004 and is the only child-advocacy center serving Escambia County. Its mission is to facilitate the investigation, prosecution and treatment of child abuse and neglect and to promote child-abuse prevention awareness through community education.

In 2011, the Kid’s House provided services to more than 2,000 child victims of abuse and neglect.

To donate or become a sponsor or for more information on entering the tournament, visit www.pcogolf.org.
